DENTAL IMPLANTS iN CANBERRA
WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?
Dental implants are one of the options to replace missing teeth, providing a long-term stable solution for a single tooth or multiple missing teeth. We not only replace your tooth, we make sure it looks great by using a natural looking crown to cover your long-lasting titanium root.

IMPLANT RETAINED DENTURES IN CANBERRA
DENTURES SUPPORTED BY DENTAL IMPLANTS
Implant supported dentures are a good option for full denture wearing patients. Before dental implants, a patient who had no teeth at all was limited to wearing complete dentures. The retention and stability of those dentures became poorer as a result of the jaw bone remodelling. With jaw bone shrinkage over time, their fit and ability to function like natural teeth became more inefficient and unpredictable.
Adequate stability of your full denture can be achieved from as little as two dental implants, creating a removable denture that sits securely into place restoring close to a natural function.
Dental implants can also support partial dentures.
DID YOU KNOW?
- Implants prevent slippage and secure dentures in place.
- Painful sore spots of the gums are prevented when dentures clip onto implants
- Implants reduce on-going bone loss from denture use and help keep your natural facial structure.
- Dentures supported by implants are smaller, allowing you to naturally pronounce words. They also permit you to taste your food.
We provide Dental Implants to residents of Coombs, Denman Prospect, Wright, Weston Creek, Weetangerra, Weston, Duffy, Lyons, Woden, Canberra City, Belconnen and Tuggeranong.
These are the questions most of our patient's ask us about dental implants.
Like natural teeth, dental implants need to be flossed and brushed twice daily, consistently. This ensures healthy gums and bone around them. You also have to attend the dentist 6 monthly for routine checks and cleans as required. You have to avoid harmful habits like using your teeth as tools.
The actual placement/insertion of the implant into the jaw bone takes just under an hour. This procedure is preceded by a pre-treatment visit where we take a 3D xray (Cone Beam CT scan) and optical scans of your teeth to determine the amount of bone you have, the location of important structures like nerves and sinuses, and even fabricate a special stent to help place the implant in an optimum position. At the time of implant insertion, its stability is tested, and checked again three months later before connecting a crown.
Their long-term value far exceeds that of other tooth restoration methods, and there is no question that they are a worthwhile investment. The cost of dental implants varies according to individual needs and the extent of correction required. If you have dental (extras) health insurance, some of the insurers may cover a portion of the expense.
Dr Joseph Tidimane will be happy to provide you with a detailed price quote during your personal consultation. Our friendly front office staff will be able to talk you through the option of an interest free payment plan, which may help make this dental treatment accessible.
Not in Australia. It is, however, advanced dentistry which clinicians adequately trained in the surgical and prosthodontic implant treatments and also registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Regulatory Agency) can carry out. Some Australian universities offer a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Implants) which is the highest formal training that exists in the country by local universities.
